“I began in design at age 15, and that early start fostered a lifelong passion for the craft,” says Bay Area designer Caitlin Jones. “Today, our firm focuses on full-home renovations and reimagined spaces that elevate both how our clients live and how they feel. We aim to make the process as inspiring as the outcome, thanks to our streamlined systems and proactive project management that turn complex projects into enjoyable journeys.”

They embarked on an exploration with clients that found her firm through online reviews while searching for a designer to help reimagine a 3,600-square-foot Craftsman built in 1917. “One of the owners grew up just down the street and they wanted this to be a long term home for them,” Jones recalls. “They were drawn to the views and the property’s connection to nature, and wanted a home that felt more sympathetic to its surroundings.” Together, they began the transformation of the interior renovation while also developing a new landscape plan for the one-acre lot nestled in the heart of San Anselmo.

While they were drawn to the Craftsman details, the clients wanted the interiors to feel eclectic and artistic. “A full-sized grand piano was a must-have for the clients, and we designed the main living spaces around it, creating a central music room where notes drift through the home,” she notes. “It was equally important that we strengthen the home’s connection to the land.” They did so by re-grading the yard and installing a 20-foot, cantina-style door that fully opens the family room and kitchen to the outdoors.

One of Jones’ favorite spaces is the jewel box kitchen that is full of character. “While modest in scale, every detail is fully realized, highly functional and balanced,” she says. “The yonder backsplash tile and RTO lighting over the island add a playful nod to the olive green and walnut cabinets. The hand hewn solid brass hood and cabinet hardware will continue to age and patina giving the space life. The result is unique and fun without being precious. The tones also blend beautifully to the backyard and feel one with the land.”

The clients quickly settled into their home with their sons and dogs, enjoying the new spaces that reflect their personalities perfectly. Jones recalls how she felt during the final reveal, “Every detail serves a purpose, creating a home that supports the vibrance of family life while celebrating thoughtful design.”
